题目：On phrase structure of comparative constructions

摘要：

This talk starts with a unified structure proposed for comparatives of superiority and comparatives of equality in Chinese. It is shown that the comparee and the standard of the comparative construction assume a complex DP structure headed by a comitative. This distinguishes Chinese from English which allows subcomparatives. The proposed structure captures semantic and syntactic parallelism of individual comparison as a parametric mode of comparatives by means of Chinese. Through an examination of Japanese attributive comparatives, it is argued that the two languages are similarly parameterized into individual comparison, thereby accounting for the lack of subcomparatives in these languages and the negative island effects observed in English comparatives.

顾阳教授简介：

顾阳教授现任香港中文大学(深圳)人文社科学院院长。曾任香港中文大学深圳校区筹备委员会成员及学术委员会成员。1991年、1992年分别获美国康奈尔大学语言学硕士、博士学位，随后应聘於香港中文大学任教。历任美国语言学会会员，国际中国语言学会终身会员，香港语言学会终身会员。历任香港语言学学会常务秘书、付会长、会长；国际中国语言学学会常务付秘书长；《国际中国语言学学会通讯》主编；『当代国外语言学与应用语言学文库』专家委员会成员，及《当代语言学》、《现代外语》、《藏缅语学报》、《语言学文选》、《语言学译林》等刊物编委。受聘担任北京大学、中央民族大学等校兼职研究员、荣誉讲座教授。曾应邀访问中国社会科学院语言研究所、清华大学、北京大学、中央民族大学、北京外国语大学、北京语言文化大学、上海外国语大学、西安交通大学、广东外语外贸大学、云南大学、云南民族大学、江苏师范大学、新疆大学、台湾清华大学、韩国高丽大学等，并作专题学术演讲。应邀在广东外语外贸大学、天津南开大学、北京大学举办的全国暑期语言学高级研讨班教授理论语言学课程。主要研究领域包括理论语言学、句法学、形态学、词汇语义学、比较语言学、语言类型学等，并着重研究英语、汉语、汉－藏语等语言语法体系的共性与个性。在海内外语言学杂志、书刊、学术会议、特约演讲中发表研究论文逾百篇。合作编写出版《新到港学童英语自学套》（English Self-learning Packages for New Arrival Children），编辑出版《汉语语言学研究》（Studies on Chinese Linguistics），合作编辑出版《汉语语言学书目》，合作撰写出版的《生成语法研究与汉语语法理论》 分别获2002年北京市哲学社会科学优秀研究成果奖一等奖及2006年教育部全国普通高等教育人文社会科学优秀成果二等奖。 曾获香港中文大学文学院教学优秀奖（2007）。
